Starting from 1st January 2020, additional five (5) countries are added to Visa on Arrival relaxation : Austria, The Czech Republic , Hungary , Luxembourg and New Zealand in addition to previous 6 EU countries.
The visa fee will be 50 US dollars. The tourists can stay in Myanmar for 28 days.
Myanmar had already allowed VOA or Visa on Arrival to tourists from China, India, Australia, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, and Russia.
There was an increase of 130% Chinese tourist arrivals. The number of tourists from Japan, South Korea, Russia also increased.
Japan, South Korea, Macao, and Hong Kong tourists who hold ordinary passports are already granted visa exemption with effect from 1st October 2018. Travelers are allowed to enter Myanmar through International Gateways such as the international Airports, Seaports, and selected land borders. Other country nationalities who gets a visa exemption period of 14 days include Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam. (Source: www.evisa.moip.gov.mm) Visa on arrival is granted for Chinese tourists with ordinary passports at Yangon international airport, Mandalay international airport, and Nay Pyi Taw International Airport. Visa fee US $50 per person will be collected on arrival and allowed to stay for 30 days with no possibility for extension.
