Urban Planning Department’s Capacity development project which is carried out in cooperation with Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC), Myanmar Egress and Yangon Heritage Trust has concluded successfully last week. Project procedures like urban infrastructure survey, urban folk business and careers survey, comparison on Heritage Preservation Laws, review on real estate market and heritage are discussed with the help of local professionals and Urban Planning Department by international specialists. “Within a few years, we move necessary steps forward for urban planning drawing and preservation sector. Today, we become to realize the conservation for urban planning and heritage.” With the sponsor of EU, we have these changes. This project is just the beginning for cooperation with EU – not the end. I hope so, said YHT Chairman and founder Dr. Thant Myin Oo. Moreover, he said, YHT hopes to emerge as an organization and the project is important close collaborate for urban management. Knowledge about old Yangon downtown and future hopes for Yangon will be understood clearly. The project is measured with the aims to enhance Urban Planning Department’ capacity development, to be better management system of regional level and to involve for people in urban planning projects actively. YHT has carried four surveys for many activities, five workshops & trainings, two foreign excursions and delivery pamphlets and booklets for heritage preservation.
