Getting to Embassy

If you arrive by air at Canberra Airport, a taxi to the Embassy will cost approximately A$ 18.00 or if you arrive by train at Kingston Railway Station, it will cost approximately A$ 12.00 for a taxi to the Embassy. There are also various coach (bus) services from the Sydney and Melbourne to Canberra. Fares vary from Company to Company but are approximately A$ 35.00 on way Sydney/Canberra and A$ 62.00 one way Melbourne/Canberra. It may be advisable to check Bus Company web sites for special rates e.g. http://www.greyhound.com.au

Air fares to Canberra can be expensive but special rate are available if you book well in advance or on the internet.

There are three trains daily from Sydney to Canberra and three return trains to Sydney:

Visa Information

The Visa forms are in Microsoft Word format and any computer which has MS Word 97 or above installed on their machine can open these files and print them out. These then need to be filled in and sent to Myanmar Embassy in Canberra with the Visa Application Fee and Return Post Envelope.

Overland Entry is permitted for Tourists with visas at Tachileik, Three Pagoda Pass, Myawaddy and Kawthaung Checkpoints along Myanmar-Thai border. Visas must be obtained prior to travel and dates must be supplied.

Please give appropriate time to issue visas (please ensure all information, forms etc. are supplied at time of application). In case of urgency, please contact the Embassy. If these requirements are not followed, the issuance of visas will be delayed.

At present, credit cards cannot be used in Myanmar. It is recommended that you take US$ cash or Euro cash to convert your expenses whilst in Myanmar.

NOTE:

Former Myanmar citizens and their family members including those born in Australia must also apply ENTRY/SOCIAL VISIT VISA.

Covering letter from applicants' company requesting visa issuance, giving the following information· Type of business, applicant's name, passport number & position in company· Name of Myanmar organization/company where business/discussions are to be held· Travel dates giving departure date from Australia & flights & dates in & out of Myanmar
Return pre-paid courier bag or registered/express post envelope (SAFE SUBMISSION & RETURN OF PASSPORTS IS APPLICANTS' RESPONSIBILITY)

Please allow sufficient time for processing of visa. Visas are issued for a stay in Myanmar of 10 weeks and are valid for entry within three months from date of issue.

NOTE : MULTIPLE JOURNEY ENTRY VISAS– Companies with established long-term ongoing business in Myanmar may apply for a Multiple Journey Entry visa for their personnel, valid for a period of 12 months for as many entries as necessary:
